Riot Games has announced that Valorant will be transitioning from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5. This upgrade aims not only to enhance the game’s performance and visual quality but also to pave the way for future expansions and content updates. Riot explains that the move to Unreal Engine 5 is meant to bring broader improvements rather than just graphical upgrades.
The innovative technologies within Unreal Engine 5, including Lumen lighting and Nanite virtual geometry, are expected to give Valorant a more immersive visual experience. However, the Riot team clarified that this transition may not immediately bring noticeable changes, as performance improvements will be experienced gradually. Although a specific release date has not been set, Riot assures players that the upgrade will complement future projects within the Valorant universe.
